do you know of a song called 'band of gold'? that's precisely what we are.. yea.. after months of trying hard and night practices, more inspirational yet corny prep talk, good lucks from our friends and past yr's band seniors, we finally made the mark to be of equal standards as our seniors.. haha wah.. very relieved now la.. considering that there won't be any more draining night practices and getting zibei and all..
so ytd, we were released at 1040 and had some prep talk by seniors.. then had lunch, which very little people ate cos recess was an hr before, so the usual company went to HCJC for a drink and saw daniel and he wished us good luck la.. he looks damn poser and dao lor and when he speaks to us its damn awkward haha... then everyone went to buy ice cream and were fascinated by the ice cream dispenser cos there's this ice cream box full of cup, cone and stick ice creams and this suction tube to suck the package up and drop it into the container for them to retrieve their ice cream.. then alot of people just stick there and watch the magic of the dispense for like 15mins and we went to band room...
then blah blah change into band uniform and polish instruments and everything and we had a rehearsal with ah lim.. haha ah lim looks pretty pro but when he conducts, his emotions are really not damn fake la.. reverting back into an ah-lim metronome would be a great idea... budden somehow the band sounded very shen... yea, the gold with honours standard.. its like we aimed for GWH after the encourgaging speeches by each and every sec 4s of the band..
budden i dint play alot cos suddenly my pimple underneath my lips keeps hurting and cant pitch those notes above Eflat then zibei again cos i, like everyone else put in a lot of effort and having this obstacle is kinda impactful and sad... bahh nvm.. more abt that later...
so we took our chartered bus to SCH and arrived at 4.30. Our scheduled performance time was 6pm. What a great arrangement.. So just wait and wait, feel damn excited and nervous and all.. Then after that its our turn and we went into the tuning room to tune and everything.. then i try out my bar 78 again which consists of a melodious yet emotionful phrase varying from b flat to f.. then sound like shit so zibei zibei until we went into the concert hall to perform..
i dint feel nervous at all in the hall.. seriously.. i was more tired and my mind was running on subconscious and before i knew it, our performance was over... i tink i sat at quite a nice place on the rise and saw alot of people sitting at the sides and there were 5 judges right in the middle of the centre section.. so we just played singapore rhapsody and it sounded quite bad cos the percussion was like always, too loud and meng hon's instru was spoilt or sth, always had squeaky noises and i could hear them cos i am sitting on the extreme left of the rise so can sorta hear the whole band playing.. quite bad for singapore rhap la.. definitely not a gold standard i tink..
then seventh nite was much better, even tho the horns admitted they screw up a lil or sth.. anywayy, i tink terence's solo was damn zai la.. could feel the whole rise vibrating with his round and big tone.. then all the notes damn solid.. truthfully, i think that that solo was the best he ever played and the feeling came back la.. as in i felt touched by the mellow soothing tone made by his instrument yet again since i dunno when.. haha.. then somehow the song just dint perk up.. i tink everyone was tired la.. but at brilliante part, everyone suddenly geared up and just meng play and the ending was simply sensational... everyone was in tune, as one band and the last note wasn't split and everything was just nice la... i think the gd ending left quite a good impression on the judges and all so it's generally ok la..
but then still quite disappointed in the playing cos we know we can do much much better (except for the solo) but ah lim said we have high chance to get gold so everyone not that sad... by then i was like hungry and totally exhausted so i was too tired to think abt anything.. in fact i dint even feel anything abt wat award we'll get la... gold with honours.. yay. gold whoopee. silver.. bahh expected.. bronze wah lao... yea all unenthusiastic responses...
budden in the end we got gold la.. and once it was announced (by lawrence siao), everyone just cheered.. but i dint join in cos haha i set high expectations with honours.. but gold's good already la.. kun won was even worse, he stayed at the hall so he dint noe the results until we told him.. loll.. but seriously la, as the quote goes 'to aim for the impossible is to get the best possible.' so we got gold and were happy..
then after that went back to band room toked to daniel, mong and alfred and haoquan a little.. hah daniel still damn dao and attitude la... dint tok that much tho.. ahha our close senior-junior gap widen until like siao but nvm la, both of us have to move on someday somehow wat... haha then alfred and mong still damn cute.. so most of us went to KAP to celebrate gold la and we sat with our sections..
then haoquan told us lots of cold jokes the VJC pple told him.. damn lame and funny and all.. then after that we took a lot of pics, me with clarence, terence, ivan, sean and haoquan... haha very fun.. then after got back home watch ai results.. vonzell stole carrie's part for the bridge of 'when you tell me that you love me'!!! haha i tink she sang better than carrie so yea... but luckily carrie still has that ending solo and she did it top notch.. yea nadia's gone.. watever...
bahh bio period now.. me damn tired wanna sleep... no band prac today yay!! =D
yea ending of with terence's quote when he consoled me cos i felt kinda bad/guilty cos i dint play the bar 78-80 and encouraged me with his heartfelt line, 'you are not the cause of why the band dint get gold with honours. you are the reason of why we got gold.' so sweet... thanx terence ah..
whee.. just finished napfa.. sure silver le.. haha my 2.4 is 12.39mins, my shuttle run is like 10.1 sec, my situps is like 45, my ICP is 21.. 21!!! that's my worst ever.. i've got 28 since p4 lor.. bahh.. stupid teacher.. just bcos i am not from 'elite' ep3 groups then he say my leg bend and everything then i was stopped all the time and lost all my momentum.. f*** him man.. and my sit and reach is 32cm and standing broad 210cm.. yet another record.. now my left leg damn pain la... heck it.. silver it shall be.
